Go! Marathon Cheer Station

This weekend is the GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend. The highly athletic and motivated people will compete in the Marathon, Half-marathon and Relay Marathon on Sunday morning.  Soulard will again have a Cheer Station in the neighborhood where people can congregate and cheer on the runners. The Station, at the corner of 12th and Sidney, was named the best Cheer Station last year in a poll of the participants.

Dedicated Islanders have chosen the "Pajama Party" theme again for this year's effort. The theme was most likely chosen for two reasons 1) it won us $1,000 last year and 2) it's much more fun to concentrate on the "essentials" for any Soulard event rather than what clothes to put on. More neighborhoods are participating this year so, we need to have an even better time.

The marathon begins at 7am downtown and we are at Mile 3 of the race.  Set up for the Station begins at 6am and if you come out, plan on being in your spot at 7am.  You don't have to be fully awake, but some of these runners are really fast and the goal is to cheer everyone on.

Food, drink, ibuprofen and music will be provided. Be as creative as you want to be. If you do plan on shaving that morning, we ask that you rethink that halfway through and show up half-shaved because that is funny.  In theory, we want you to show up however you wake up. In reality, Saturday is a big day of events with the Cardinals game and the Blues Home Playoff game. Some of you may need to put on your pajamas in order to not be arrested once in public.

Here's the Facebook event page.  RSVP so that there will be enough food and "special orange juice".

Also, please bring at least one canned good that can be donated to the Trinity Lutheran Church Food Pantry
