Spend Back To The Future Day at iTap

You live under a rock if you didn't know that today is the day that Marty McFly traveled to in Back to the Future Part II. In honor of Back to the Future day, International Tap House is showing Back to the Future Part II on their patio tonight. The movie will start at 8pm and their will be specials on canned beers from Tallgrass Brewing Company.

Tuesday Brews N' Clues Trivia at iTap Starting Tonight

International Tap House (iTap) on 9th street is staring up Tuesday night trivia beginning tonight. Hosted by the Island's own Billy Tomber, Brews N' Clues will consist of four rounds of trivia beginning at 8 pm. The overall winners will receive a $40 iTap gift card and the team coming in second will receive a $20 one. Each week will feature a different craft brewery. "Swag" from the featured brewery will be given away throughout the night and the winning team in each round will get a round of beers from the featured brewery for the team

This week's Brews N' Clues features 4 Hands Brewing Company.

iTap is the newest entry into the Soulard trivia arena. Brews N' Clues joins the Sunday night trivia at Llywelyn's as well as trivia at Joanie's and Great Grizzly Bear.

Flea Market, Hoppy Spring and Warrior Fest Saint Louis This Saturday

The Shanti is putting on a Flea Market from 8am-Noon tomorrow in the parking lot between Shanti and 1860s. The Shanti is cleaning out its basement and there should be lots of good stuff. A few other bars and individuals are also participating.

Warrior Fest Saint Louis is also happening tomorrow at Big Daddy's. Former Islander John Launius will be the MC.

Live Music, Silent Auction, Raffles and a 50/50 drawing. Two Purple Heart Recipients will also be on hand. Event benefits the Wounded Warrior Project. The event goes from 4 pm-10 pm

Hoppy Spring is also going on at iTap starting at Noon. Some casks will be available as well as lots of hoppy beers. Plus, the Blues play Game 2 versus the Blackhawks at 2 pm and iTap will be offering select St. Louis beers for $3 a pint during the game.

iTap Dog Drive Starts Today

From now until the Beggin Pet Parade, bring in any of the items on this list and get a 2-1 beer ticket that you can use on Sunday while you are enjoying the Pet Parade, PetSmart Wiener Dog Derby, Southern Comfort Taste of Soulard and Barenaked Ladies concert.

Items will go to benefit Stray Rescue.

Big Changes At iTap

Do you find yourself looking for a place to charge your phone when you are having a few high-quality beers at the local watering hole? Itap now is making it easy. They have installed electrical outlets on the underside of the bar for your enjoyment.

More televisions are also on the way. We are told that they will be fully functioning by tomorrow evening. There will be more televisions installed throughout the establishment and the televisions will be on their own receivers to allow for many more viewing options.

Watch Mizzou Football Today At iTap

The Mizzou-Southeastern Louisiana game at 6pm today is only on  pay-per-view. You could pony up the $39.95 and watch it at home, unless you have Charter. A better idea would be to go to International Tap House and watch the game.

So some d-bag, who obviously has super-human strength, decided to help improve the men's bathroom shared by iTap and Epic. A brand new Dyson hand dryer Airblade hand dryer was recently installed to compliment the paper towel dispensers that d-bags, who are probably friends with the other d-bag, continually deface and mess with. The first d-bag decided that the second paper towel dispenser was now redundant and could be removed. As you would expect, no one is grateful for the first d-bag's actions and would appreciate him moving to Canada and staying out of Soulard.

Epic Now Open Mondays

Have you realized that your choices for dining seem to be a little slimmer on Mondays?  Well, now there is one more option. Epic Pizza & Subs will be open at 5pm today and every Monday during baseball season.  While there isn't a Cardinals game today, there is Game #3 of the Blues-Sharks series and it looks to be well, EPIC after the brawl at the end of Game 2. So, if you are craving pizza tonight, or a burger or something else delicious off their menu; head over to 9th Street after 5pm tonight.

Side benefit: iTap has an excellent Monday special from 8p-close: Half Off 1/2 The Drafts. They take Mardi Gras beads and drape them over half the draft handles. The ones with beads are then 1/2 off for the night. That's 22 beers on special. Blues game starts at 9pm so, maybe you need to go have a beer or two and get some pizza?

Or how about a cupcake?  Guys, it has been scientifically proven that these cupcakes will get you out of the doghouse or score you brownie points to use in the future.

New Wednesday Night Special At iTap

The "Kill The Keg" special on Wednesday nights at International Tap House is no more. In its place is "Brewery Night". One brewery will be picked each Wednesday and beers from them will be on special, likely $1 off. Sounds like a party. I don't have the schedule yet, but hopefully they will tweet the pick each week.  Special runs 8p-close. Other specials are the same.

Watch Mizzou Vs Kansas at iTap

Today is a very important game for the Missouri Tigers.  This is a must-win game.  Sure, the result in this game will factor into our seeding for the Tournament, but this game is a must-win because it's Kansas.  Not just that though, it always will probably be the last game in the rivalry. Kansas will always hold the advantage in this basketball series, but Mizzou has dominated in sports overall.

That being said, you need to be out for this one.  You need to be somewhere where everyone will be into the game.  Come to International Tap House on 9th. It's been confirmed via Twitter that game audio will be on and Missouri beers will be $3 with the exception of the O'Fallon BDS.

Soulard USWNT Watch Party Wednesday 11am

The United States takes on France this Wednesday in the Semifinals of the Women's World Cup and International Tap House is the place to be for the game.  Sean Conroy is being kind enough to open early so that  we all can be supplied with good American craft beers as we watch Hope Solo and company try to make us cry tears of joy again.

You didn't shed a tear on Sunday when Wambach scored? You may need to go to Globe and buy some feelings.  Here's a video below to get you in the mood. Doors open at 10:45am.  Bogart's doors open at 10:30am and I am confident Skip, George and the gang will have you ready to go in plenty of time to be in your seat for the game.

Epic Pizza and Subs

Were you excited for The Sultry Donut to move onto the Island?  Unfortunately, it looks like that is not happening.  In that space next to iTap instead we will get Epic Pizza and Subs.  Two guys who used to work for Pinnacle Entertainment are behind the venture.

Here's the lowdown from Sauce Magazine.

Dozen Donuts at 2 AM

Last night, I had my own little social crawl through Soulard and Quasi-Soulard.  It ended with me covered in sand, but the proud owner of one dozen dounts from the greatest donut shop known to mankind.  How does that happen on a Monday evening?  Here's how:

First stop: Itap Clearly this is going to be my first stop.  Monday nights they put beads on half the draft handles and those beers are half off, 8pm to close.  Excellent way to try some new beers on the cheap, and if you're crazy like me, get some reading done without the distractions of home.  Some of the coolest staff on the Island doesn't hurt at all.

Stop 2: Redbox  Yesterday being the first Monday of the month meant two things: 1) I got a ticket for parking on the wrong side of the road in front of my house and 2) Redbox texted me a promo code for a free movie. Sign up for their email list to get in on this action. Also, apparently through 6/12 rent two movies and get a 3rd free.  The closest Redbox to the Island is outside the Walgreens on Lafayette.  One added benefit to going to this one is the people watching, trust me.  Ohh and also, check out this picture.  I don't know what it says about us that we need two Redbox machines, but go us.

Stop 3: 1860 Saloon Jen and Erica are both awesome, go see them sometime.  Apparently Mondays they have $2.50 domestic bottles, a definite bonus.  The new Game Room is a really cool thing to have on the Island.

Stop 4: Bar 101 Usually I avoid this place, especially on the weekends, but in reality that is quite stupid of me. I went to meet a friend who was there for karaoke. It's no Carson's Karaoke but it has potential and $2.50 AB Aluminum bottles. One of the coolest perks is clearly the sand volleyball however. I don't know the exact rules on who gets to use the courts outside of the leagues they have, but somehow we were able to get a ball and go play.  After my team won in a epic battle, which means about as much as winning an argument on Twitter, we watched some karaoke, played the basketball shooting game thing, and people watched.  Then came thoughts of food....

Stop 5: John Donut. I read this feature on Metromix.com the other day about the best doughnut shops in St. Louis.  I had to click through it three times because I reckoned I missed John Donut the first two times through.  Sure enough, at the end, there are two comments wondering what world they live in for leaving this treasure off the list.  As I left Bar 101 to walk the two blocks to my house, my thoughts turned to a late night snack while I watched the movie I had rented.  Being that it was a Monday, Billie's Fine Foods was not open at 2am.  Jimmy John's I think was technically still open, but from prior experience I know they don't like you walking through the drive-thru and they close the inside earlier than the drive-thru.  Then, my thoughts turned to John Donut, which they were actually on to begin with. I want to say it opens at 11p or Midnight and stays open until around 10am.  Basically when they start baking the donuts, they are open for business.  I don't carry cash much, so I turned to the trusty debit card.  $7 minimum to use the card, I could handle that.  I pick out six donuts and a can of Diet Pepsi, not enough.  I grab a couple more donuts.  Then the gent says to me "Ya know, if you buy a dozen you only get charged for 10 here."  Done and Done.  I set off towards home with a dozen pieces of baked glory.  I don't see anyone roaming the streets to offer some to so, I offer them to some of the people closing up the bars on 9th.  Apparently I caught them on a night they didn't want a late night snack.  Movie time it is.

Stop 6: The Dilemma with Vince Vaughn and Kevin James was the movie of choice.  It was free so, I was willing to take a chance on a movie.  This one barely beat out "Never Say Never" with Justin Bieber.  Don't judge.  Shoulda listened to RottenTomatoes on this one.  I didn't think it was a very good flick.  Probably woulda been better had they brought in Carrie Heffernan. The movie was of course made better by the donuts.

Good thing the donuts at John Donut are made with such awesomeness that they are still good after a day or two.  Again, don't judge
