SeenInSoulard #132: Soulard Budweiser Coasters

Here's a coaster I got with my beer recently. Word is the Anheuser-Busch made custom coasters for several other neighborhoods in St. Louis as well.

It's definitely cool having this special Soulard coaster and I'm thankful that A-B did this. (Note: I've decided to no longer give InBev any credit for anything positive because they are killing Anheuser-Busch.) I feel like it is worth noting how different the sign is in reality versus the coaster. Here's the sign in the real world.

I'm sure there were probably some logistics behind not using "Soulard Farmers Market" on the coaster, but I just found that change a bit off when I first saw it. The coasters are still pretty cool to see around, however.

SeenInSoulard #127: Brooks - Dunn

This poster hangs above the water fountains at iTap.Not sure if it is a joke.
The movie stars Kix Brooks, who of course was one-half of the country mega duo Brooks & Dunn. This is Kix's second movie role with the first being 8 Seconds back in 1994. Ambush At Dark Canyon sees Brooks as Duke Donovan, who is falsely accused of being part of a bank robbery. He must then back out of prison in time to save his wife from being murdered.  The film is produced by Brooks' Team Two Entertainment.

The movie did get decent reviews at IMDB. Here's the trailer.

And for good measure, we'll include a Brooks & Dunn music video.

SeenInSoulard #125: Who Needs Parking?

Why has Trinity been taking up somewhere around 8-10 parking spots on 8th for at least a week and a half? Word is they are putting in a new organ system; replacing the system from the 1920s that is currently in place. Price estimates are at least $1 million and maybe more in the $1.3 million range. Sure, it's not the worst thing in the world to have to park farther from your home or dining destination, but it is a pain in the ass when you find out why the truck and dumpster are there. It's not like they have their own parking lot across the street on the NW corner of 9th and Soulard. Supposedly, both truck and dumpster were supposed to have been gone already, so who knows how much longer they will be there.

This happened a couple weeks ago on Gravois just north of Allen. This was a couple hours later. Just a truck, hanging out.

SeenInSoulard #120

Got this picture and story in my email the other day:

I recently dropped my clothes off at Soulard Soap for some fluff and fold.  Since I'm on the road a lot, I just drop em off and pick em up a couple days later.
I was coming back to pick up my laundry when I spotted them…..my underwear.
Yep, there were sitting in the gutter in the same spot where I pulled the basket out of my car three days prior.  I guess they fell out of the basket while I was running in.  Soaking wet and covered with various Soulard stuff, I pulled them out and put them in the can across the street.
Oops!  Sorry Soulard, but you've seen my boxers and it wasn't pretty.  I wonder how many people walked by and said "gross, somebody's boxers?"   I know I did before I realized they were mine.
